Cinemax: The Knick Surgeon’s Boxes

Creative Technologist | 2014
To promote Steven Soderbergh’s new show “The Knick,” on Cinemax, Campfire created in-story “Surgeon’s Box” – a physical artifact pulled directly from the world of The Knick to be delivered to influencers. The team designed, created and assembled these boxes and before delivery, each box was further personalized with the recipients initials in gold lettering, and finally, rubbed with rich mahogany oil to create a full sensory experience when unwrapped.

Elena worked as a creative technologist and manager of interactive development on these boxes. She primarily oversaw the development of the bleeding soap and microscope slides. Each bleeding soap required four independent steps of customization before being packaged.

Read a user description of the bleeding soap by Michael Anderson (soap photo credit also to Mr. Anderson).

Boxes were posted online by multiple outlets including: HBO WatchFandomaniaSteampunkAndrew Zimmern from Bizarre Food, and Nerd Approved
